A Quick Swab and Send to the lab and you will know "All about YOU!"

Last blog it was introduced about midlife and sluggish energy and foggy brain...... if you haven't read it yet please do! Such great information to help all who are experiencing this in their lives.

Let's continue on talking about other aspects of fatigue and loss of energy. Especially in the Midlife and on years. I know at 64 (holy crumb, I can soon get medicare!!!) You never think about this point until it slams you in the face!! If you are like me, life is not slowing down, NO, this is the time that we have to grab it and go!!! I am even thinking about going back to college to finish my Batchelor degree!! Why NOT??? What I am saying here is grab life with all that you can, keep achieving, keep bettering yourself, create, prosper, enjoy all that you can, I will be behind you cheering all the way!! However I digress lets see what we can do to feel and think better with more small epigenetic shifts....

We know that fatigue isn't always "just aging." Two quiet players can hijack your drive: dwindling testosterone and sluggish detox pathways.

Last week we explored general momentum builders. Today, we'll dive deeper into how these two forces interact - and what you can do to reclaim your spark.

🧬 Testosterone: More Than a Sex Hormone

When people hear "testosterone," they think libido or muscle. But T is also key for:

  • Mental drive & focus - it supports dopamine production.

  • Metabolism & body composition - helps maintain lean muscle and regulate fat storage.

  • Bone strength & mood stability - low levels are linked to frailty and irritability.

After the age of 40, levels naturally dip - 1-2% per year. Stress, poor sleep, or ultra-low-fat diets can accelerate that slide.

🧨 Detox Pathways & Energy Drain

Your liver and cellular "detox stations" process everything from used-up hormones to environmental chemicals. When these pathways lag:

  • Old hormones (including testosterone's metabolites) recirculate instead of clearing. If fact in present research hormones like testosterone and estrogen are created and are only to make 1 pass through the human system. However it is found that these hormones due to no way of getting help to process and be eliminated (through foods like fiber and cruciferous vegetables, and movement...) are actually make 3-4-even 5 passes and most time these hormones are then stored in receptor sites just hanging out and accumulating (inflammation ).

  • Inflammatory byproducts build up, leaving you sluggish or foggy.

  • Nutrient reserves (zinc, B vitamins, magnesium, glutathione to name a few...)get depleted.

Think of detox as housekeeping: if you don't take the trash out, the whole house feels heavy.

⚡️ Strategies to Protect T & Support Detox

Smart Resistance Training

Short, heavy- enogh sets (squats, deadlifts, push-ups) 2-3 times per week boost testosterone signaling and preserve muscle.

🥦 Eat for T & Liver Love

  • Prioritize high-quality prot3in and healthy fats (salmon, eggs, nuts).

  • Inlcude cruciferous veggies (broccoli, Kale, brussel sprouts...) - these are compounds like sulforaphane aid hormone clearance. (yes helps with hot flashes and other wonderful symptoms of mennopause!)

  • Limit ultra-processed carbs that spike insulin (high insulin can suppress T).

🌿 Detox Nutrient Support

  • Zinc & magnesium helps T production

  • B-complex & selenium assist liver enzymes.

  • Herbs such as milk thistle or dandelion root may offer gentle liver support (talk with your provider before adding supplements or understanding your DNA where you need more support with genetic deficiencies and issues of genetic processing)

💣 Lower Your Toxic Load

Swap harsh cleaning agents and plastics for safer options. Even small cuts in chemical exposure free up detox capacity.

🛌 Deep Sleep = Daily Reset

Testosterone pulses during sleep; liver repair does too. Aim for 7-8 hours in a cool, dark room.

So What Is The Bottom Line

Energy loss in midlife is a rarely from one culprit. Low T can flatten motivation, while a congested detox system quietly steals vitality. Support both, and you create a powerful foundation for strength, clarity, and drive.

"Genes set the stage - thats ok, its how YOU live decides the script."

Let's talk. Book a DNA & epigenetic/lifestyle review to discover how your personal hormone and detox genes can work for (not against) your next chapter of life.
